In the northeast of Irleand you will find the town of Carlingford on the Cooley Peninsula, between the waters of Carlingford Lough and the mountain of Slieve Foye. When the Vikings invaded Ireland in the 9th Century we are told that they occupied Carlingford Lough. Why the very name Carlingford is Scandinavian meaning ‘Fjord of Carlinn’. Carlingford has endured the rule of Kings, Military Invasions, Medieval War and Prosperity. So come and join us as we travel back in time, for who knows there may still be some Vikings that remain.
